The training young players receive can not only shape their playing habits for the remainder of their playing careers, but also serves to inspire them to greater things.
Our coaching with young players focuses on the Dutch skills philosophy of "total soccer". This model encourages players to develop a wide range of abilities and to make the correct decisions on the field, rather than simply conditioning them to rely on instructions and only understanding how to play one position.
Throughout everything we do, there is a large component of fun. We recognize that the happy player is more receptive to learning, and we want people to leave every session counting the minutes to the start of the next one!
This program is:
- Especially for younger players
- The best possible introduction to soccer for the aspiring soccer player.
- Based on the world-famous Dutch coaching model
- Helpful to players that want to develop the individual ball skills and techniques needed to be successful
- A chance to learn the rules of the game
- A wonderful introduction to 'the beautiful game'
"In addition to my position as Director of Chrismont Montessori Academy, my husband and I own Pocono Invitational Basketball Camp, a family business for more than forty years. We meet and interact with many coaches on a daily basis, and after meeting Coach Napier of SONESOCCER, we both said the same thing: We wish we could clone him so that all children could benefit from his coaching abilities. He has great way with the kids – such enthusiasm and positive energy. And the First Touch program is a great way to introduce the sport to children. Coach Napier brings a level of experience and professionalism that you just won’t find in other programs. That is why I chose SONESOCCER for the Montessori’s after-school enrichment program. Sure, it is tempting for families to just sign up for their local recreation programs and allow their children to be coached by dads who volunteer, but it isn’t the best way to introduce a child to the sport. You really need to start early with some quality coaching to ensure a strong foundation and a good understanding of the sport. This has been our experience in teaching basketball, and it applies to soccer and other sports as well."
